LIONS is an international organization dedicated to leadership development and sight saving. Each Lions Club helps with local needs as well as supporting the state and international goals.

For decades, the Victor Lions have partnered with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts to do Adopt-A-Highway cleanup, modeling service to the scouts, and have hosted the Victor Easter Egg Hunt. Now parents who themselves were hunting eggs as children return to the Easter Egg Hunt with their children.

Eye Screening for pre-school aged children is provided to the community. This year, three Lions Clubs went together and won a grant for a special camera that shows eye problems. Members trained to use the new camera, and used it to screen children from HLV and BGM schools.
Victor Lions collect used eye glasses and hearing aids which are recycled to those in need. You can drop glasses or hearing aids in a Lions Club box at Victor's Market. One of our Lions has begun transporting eye tissue (corneas) to the Iowa Eye Bank in Iowa City. These will be used to restore sight in paients in eastern Iowa or southeast Iowa.

Lions help with the National Beep Baseball World Series for the visually impaired.

Victor Lions have two main fund-raisers each year:
  • Community Calander (shows birthdays and anniversaries of many local people)
  • Raffle (in December)

With the proceeds plus member dues, this year they supported:
  • HLV After Prom
  • HLV Citizens Scholarship Fund
  • Hugh O'Brien Leadership Camp for three HLV students
  • HLV youth football
  • Friends of Iowa County Conservation
  • Camp Courageous
  • Iowa KidSight
  • Leader Dog for the Blind
  • Lions Diabetes
  • Lions Youth Exchange

In a new project started last year, Lions distributed Arbor Day trees to HLV fourth grade students.
